just a stream of thought....

it's early morning - so much to do today - the famous balancing act between art and home... today i plan to black line boards, sand and stain...the weather is making me horribly behind in sending you your boards - for it's cooling off here, chilly mornings of 50 - and the game boards are retaliating by sleeping on the racks for an extra week... i too want to sleep during this time - window open above my bed - cool breeze easing in - down comforter and blankets piled up high...

picked up wood at the woodcutters - a pretty drive that is out to the country passing the christmas tree farms...i stopped at one of the overlooks on the blue ridge parkway and took some photos to share....and that is something else to do today - chop up the wood for the molding and paint - another fiasco in the cool weather - things just don't want to dry... so on the next clear, sunny day, the boards will be out on the stairs sun drying - works well even in the snow...

thought i should make some soup today too... we will be outside digging up lilies that need to be moved along with many hostas... and the planting of some mums to perk up the place for a couple of months... so soup sounds perfect at the end of a chilly day...

and i'm thrilled, yesterday i was sitting at football practice with my friend, twanna - and she was just knitting away...well knitting is always something i have wanted to learn... after all, you can never have to many scarves and hats up here in the mountains...

now i will admit, a couple of years ago, my mom tried to teach me how to knit...it was a disaster - not on her part, but i just couldn't get it - she might as well as put a mask over my eyes - well after some time of trying - she said she just didn't know what the problem was - that i should look at these simple diagrams, maybe that would help (visual learning)?, but nope - was totally strange to me...

yesterday i was told that yes, i indeed could knit and that twanna would teach me....i said that this probably wasn't a great time - i had a lot on my mind - ADD, so to speak....and i just knew that i wouldn't be able to figure this out unless i had the perfect learning conditions....well i was wrong...i was just knitting away....she said that she is left handed, and that it might be difficult for me to follow....nope...i guess what i was needing was a left handed teacher....it all made sense to me - and today i'm going to pull out my grandma's knitting needles and get going on a scarf...for one should wear really cool scarves if they can....

i also heard that there is a pow wow this morning.... and that it is really not to be missed... authentic indian music played on drums accompany authentically dressed costumed dancers.... it's heading just down the mountain a little bit - so i think i will check it out for a couple of hours....

and lets not forget - a birthday party this afternoon too....and laundry for the week....
